2nd finish

After seeing all the wonderful projects posted here lately, I'm almost hesitant to mention this little finish.
It's a child's wool hat for afghans for Afghans. (If you'd like to see a picture of this hat modeled by my cat, click here.)

First finish for 2008

Just joined this group recently, but wanted to share my first! Not sure where this will be donated. Need to make many more before I do. This is a preemie crocheted blanky.

Admitting an addiction is the first step to a cure

Ok so I'll admit I had a little addiction problem. I knit a few pair of baby socks for Afghans for Afghans. It was fun so I knit a few more, and some more, and then I just couldn't stop. 39 of these were knit this year.
And now I've got this addiction out of my system and can move onto other things ..... did I mention that I have 2 lace project going and the yarn and pattern picked out for 2 more .....

comfort dolls and food banks

With a new baby in our family, I'm realistically aiming at 12 Things For Charity this year (and if I make it to 25, so much the better). I've begun with Comfort Dolls, which will be distributed to women who are the victims of abuse. Here are Lovey Louise Redheart and the Luv Duck. In addition to crafting for charity, I also like to devote time to a local charitable project. For the past +/- 2 years, I walked dogs at the local shelter but I can't do that with a baby, so I'm now part of the community food bank volunteer group. It's a great bunch of people, and I'm really glad they'd take on a newbie. :)

Here a hat, there a hat..everywhere a hat! :o)

My goal was ten hats to ship out to Rad Bad Beanies this week but I'm just plain tired of knitting hats--so 9 is the magic number. I have the hats all tagged and ready to seal up and take to the post office on Saturday. Every hat was made out of stash or leftover yarn. Big smile here, I'll put in a little cash to help them with shipping and my goal of 25 Things for Charity is well on the way.

THE WAY HOME

THESE TWO BLANKETS AND TWO QUILTS WERE DELIVERED TO THE WAY HOME. IT'S A CHRISTIAN MINISTRY FOR UNWED TEEN MOTHERS. THE HOUSE HAS ROOM FOR FOUR GIRLS AND THE HOUSE PARENTS. I WAS TOLD TODAY THAT THEY HAVE BEEN ABLE TO HELP FORTY GIRLS SO FAR. THEY TAKE DONATIONS FOR THE BABIES, MOTHERS AND HOUSEHOLD ITEMS AND CLEANING ITEMS. I CAN'T BELEIVE I JUST FOUND OUT ABOUT THEM. THIS IS A PLACE I WILL BE DONATING TO AGAIN.

Four items

I was TERRIBLE with my 25 things last year. I'm definitely going to be better this year. I have finally got my Circular Sock Machine (CSM) working and have knitted up some baby hats for a local hospital.

Quick Hello & 1st thing for charity

Happy Friday Everyone!

My name is Hettie (a.k.a. Celtic Mommy) and I just joined this super-loving group after seeing a link on Mehitabel's page. I'm very excited to put some of my energy (and yarn and fabric!) to good use for others! I just started my first "thing" and will be posting pictures soon. I am making 25 "shoeboxes of love" filled with things for families who are victims of abuse.

I hope to visit many of your blogs and get to know you throughout this next year. Have a wonderful weekend!

Item #1 for 2008

I joined this blog a long time ago, but I haven't posted much. Now that I'm a little more familiar with Blogger, I'm planning to be a more active participant.

I've made one thing for charity so far this year, a wool hat for Afghans for Afghans. There are pictures here.

2 Blankets

Items #2 & #3. I almost hate to count these toward my "25 Things" because they were so quick and easy to make. Emmazing Grace donated bereavement gowns and NICU items to Bingham Memorial in Idaho. When I called the nurse to let her know to be looking for them, she requested some blankets. I found 2 crochet blankets and 1 fleece with crocheted edges from Kathy to send. Quickly, I squared up some fleece in my stash and sergered around the edges with my new serger. Wha-la....2 blankets in minutess. That brought the total to 5 blankets to send them. I hope they keep a baby in need very warm. I would have done the same with my flannel but it wasn't washed. Note to self: Wash fabric as soon as I bring it home from the store.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!
