In the Bag

This week four knit hats were finished for Balboa Hospital's chemo therapy patients. I think the hospital is in San Diego. A Yahoo group, All Crafts for Charity, had a weekend challenge to complete lapghan squares or chemo hats. Since a huge snow storm was pounding my area, I stayed inside and knit.

breast cancer quilt square

Here's my contribution for a quilt being assembled by the Quilts for Breast Cancer group. The woman who'll receive the quilt loves owls and retro designs, so I thought this one by Jutta Ortmanns was perfect. I added some foliage based on a Blackbird Designs pattern to make the quilt square a little cozier.

I've been quiet in this group not because I haven't been doing anything but because my efforts have been more in a hands-on rather than a crafting capacity for the past 8 or 9 months. I'm a regular volunteer at our local foodbank. I know that everyone's having tough times, to some degree, right now ... but if you were able to make a contribution to your local foodbank, I know it would be deeply appreciated by many.

Comfort shawl

I have a coworker who is undergoing treatment for breast cancer. She's been out for a couple months due to infections so I decided to knit her a shawl to keep her warm.

Chrstimas Bauble

Found this pattern on borduurblog and thought I'd try one of them out. There are quite a few and you can design your own also.

I will be sending mine to Crossstitch for Charity as part of the Christmas Ornament campaign.
